Iggy Azalea quits music amid blackfishing controversy.

Thoughts? Did she deserve the criticism or no?

She's wearing darker makeup, you can see where it ends in the video in some spots, I don't know why she's having such a fit about people noticing it.

R2 yeah I was trying to see the parts of the video that could have been deceiving, because people said it was to do with the lights they used that made her look darker in parts of the video. Others said she deliberately darkened her skin.

by Anonymousreply 3July 17, 2021 1:22 PM

R1 we get it. You are American. Anyone outside of your country doesn't exist.

by Anonymousreply 4July 17, 2021 1:23 PM

r3 you can also see it in the part in the photo I posted, for about half an inch into the middle part on that wig she's wearing there's thick brown makeup, then it abruptly ends. Also seems like she's got some makeup smeared on the waist of her catsuit and elbows. Not a great look on any level.

Iggy’s first album was the most exciting thing to happen to hiphop in years. Media couldn’t have that so they found a way to have the public turn on her.

by Anonymousreply 9July 17, 2021 1:42 PM

"[R1] we get it. You are American. Anyone outside of your country doesn't exist."

R1's response is standard for DL, especially in reference for anyone in music born after Tony Bennett.

[quote] The Aussie rapper made the shock announcement less than two weeks after copping a huge backlash from fans.

Technically wouldn't this be a blacklash?

The best thing this bitch ever did was have Jennifer lauwerende sing on this song, she’s a talentless whore who should retire.

by Anonymousreply 12July 17, 2021 1:59 PM

R9 the thing is had she written her own raps maybe the first blacklash wouldn't have happened or been warranted. Instead she was an industry creation made to capitalize off music borne from the black community and some rappers went having it (Nicki Minaj) after Iggy won a BET award. She is different from Emminam in that she doesn't write her own raps. Now her using dark makeup to soak to the black crowd, especially after people like Rachel Dolezal caused big controversy, was just a bad idea

I miss Bart Baker, R7. Loved his parodies.

by Anonymousreply 14July 17, 2021 2:10 PM

If the Kardashians built an empire on fucking black guys and subtly appropriating their culture then I don't see why Iggy is cancelled and they are not.

by Anonymousreply 15July 17, 2021 2:11 PM

R15 very true. It's like how Jenna Marbles left the Internet and YouTube after her blackface videos she had posted in the long past received criticism a few years ago. But yeah the Kartrashian whores never get cancelled for anything.

by Anonymousreply 16July 17, 2021 2:19 PM

Bitch had it coming. Trying to impersonate us black queens, what did she think was gonna happen?

She sucked and was super fake. She aged and was no longer cool.

by Anonymousreply 19July 17, 2021 2:29 PM

It's timing more than anything, back when the Kardashians were first doing this kind of thing, it wasn't widely seen as offensive. By the time Iggy Azalea did it, it was.

Kardashian fans are also not the kind of people who care about behavior, so they get criticized quite a bit these days, but the fanbase doesn't change because they honestly don't care what crappy things the Kardashians do.

by Anonymousreply 22July 17, 2021 2:33 PM

Sjws=the new moral majority. So authoritarian.

by Anonymousreply 23July 17, 2021 2:36 PM

I’m surprised she got a pass this long

by Anonymousreply 24July 17, 2021 2:43 PM

I agree 1000%, R23. Those of us who rememer the "immoral" majority are the ones fighting against all this wokester shit now. We know where is comes from and where is leads. I'm only in my 40s so I barely remember Reagan and that era politically but I've educated myself on the horrors that that entire era has treated society to ever since. The younger generations making up the wokester and SJW contingents are ignorant and staying that way. The fact that the media appeases their bullshit is leading to the end of western civilization but, as they would meaninglessly say, "you be you". I hope the backlash on these trends is spectacular and that we get back to reality soon.

One less dancer working the poles won't be missed.

by Anonymousreply 27July 17, 2021 2:49 PM

She’s ridiculous and insulting and should never have had a career to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 28July 17, 2021 3:00 PM

OP’s pic looks like she’s getting her back cracked from people stepping on it. I need that so bad.

by Anonymousreply 29July 17, 2021 3:18 PM

She was borderline minstrelsy.

by Anonymousreply 30July 17, 2021 3:23 PM

This talent free bitch needs to go work at an Olive Garden

by Anonymousreply 31July 17, 2021 3:28 PM

Look at this bitch trying to appropriate zebra culture. Unfuckingbelieveable!

She looks like Cardi B with her long face and dark skin, I'm not buying her excuse.

by Anonymousreply 35July 17, 2021 4:52 PM

How do these people inflate their asses? Implants would be more localized, no? Or are these implants giant bags of silicone the size of watermelons?

by Anonymousreply 36July 17, 2021 4:56 PM

R17 & r21: please, stop doing this impersonation thing. You suck at it and it's embarrassing to read.

by Anonymousreply 37July 17, 2021 5:10 PM

She looks like a Cardi B/Nicki Minaj/Megan Thee Stallion hybrid in that pic.

by Anonymousreply 38July 17, 2021 5:11 PM

r17, Beyonce looks like a spitting image of her mother.

Iggy and Chrissy Teigen are the latest additions to them”cancel club”, and I’m not mad about it.

by Anonymousreply 40July 17, 2021 5:15 PM

I liked her. I liked her songs. She must have had bad advisors. Ppl were always jelly of her.

by Anonymousreply 41July 17, 2021 5:33 PM

She should not have done plastic surgery, however.

by Anonymousreply 42July 17, 2021 5:34 PM

"Blackfishing" - how utterly exhausting a concept.

If you triangulate on all these ridiculous positions, you eventually come to the conclusion that the only acceptable solution is all other races to submit to worldwide dominance of a black owned and operated planet.

Ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 43July 17, 2021 5:43 PM

Did JLo ever comment about working with her?

by Anonymousreply 44July 17, 2021 5:45 PM

I THOUGHT THE BITCH WAS WHITE!

She gets points for having sluttily dressed male dancers in her latest video but the song is awful, as has the majority of songs she put out since "Fancy".

I hate Iggy but this "controversy" is proof that social media has stripped everything from its context. It doesn't matter what's someone's intent was. It only matters that some twits on twitter were professionally offended. What a world we live in.

by Anonymousreply 48July 17, 2021 6:19 PM

I don't care about her hair dye or spray tan. People can work whatever look they want. But her music is .... appallingly bad. I know that there are many talentless performers out there but you have to start somewhere. Baby steps!

Yes the backlash that ensued from a white woman donning black face (in 2021) (earning millions of dollars selling hip hop) is definitely a slight to every other race. And it is definitely an attack on white dominance. “The blacks” are definitely waging a coup.

Thank God people like you are here to tell black people how to feel about these things. Just like the good old days. They need you to tell them by what they may or may not be offended.

by Anonymousreply 51July 17, 2021 6:32 PM

I thought Iggy was making fun of Kardashian in the video?

by Anonymousreply 52July 17, 2021 10:12 PM

Shush, R52, reality doesn't matter in the Twitterverse.

by Anonymousreply 53July 17, 2021 10:31 PM

R53, that's exactly it. Social media strips context from everything. To be honest, it's pretty hypocritical coming from Azalea since she herself got a ton of plastic surgery to look like a black woman. But I thought the point of the video was pretty obvious?
