Ethel was a cunt to Joan. Actually the only Kennedy Women who didn’t treat her like shit were Jackie and Eunice.
Joan was much prettier than the other women in the family and those horsey bitches couldn’t take it.

"That was my brother's kid, I had nothing to do with it " - Ethel
Is that the brother with the shiny new set of golf clubs?

"I thought you were dead!"

"Remember when Jackie used to run the tap water in the Hyannisport compound bathroom so we wouldn't hear her taking a loud shit?"
| by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 24, 2022 6:17 PM |
^ We made that up because Jackie thought her shit didn't stink

Part of it was also Teddy’s place and dynamic in the family. Ethel and others thought he was a lesser version of the other kids and had major contempt for him and his issues, so they looked down on the woman who chose to marry him.

R15 Probably something along the lines of:
"OUR husbands got their heads blow'd off! Yours is just a drunk who drowns broads and can't keep his pants up for an afternoon!"
It must really slant the poolside conversations at the Compound.

Joan is kind of fascinating. Smart, talented, shy and deeply troubled.
One of the things I liked most like about Jackie is that she was kind to Joan.

^ It's my nephew, Dammit! Have another drink, Joan

Oh, Ethel...would you like to hear a few things Marilyn Monroe confided in me about your beloved Bobby? No, I didn't think you would.

I was something, wasn't I?

It's always interesting to me that Ethel, the most horse-faced of all, led the other horse-faced Kennedy girls in being mean to the two pretty women who married into the family, Jackie and Joan.
I will feel no sorrow when Ethel finally dies. She was a terrible mother and spent all her time hobnobbing with celebrities and Catholic officials while she let the children raise themselves (with some help from the maids).

Ethel's like the Queen Mother. She's been widowed decades longer than she was married. That's got to make for a weird existence - being known principally for your spouse, who died so long ago that your youngest children are now menopausal.

^ Hey, Jackie made a bundle being a professional widow... I'm still waiting

Ethel, thanks for confirming that we all knew Andy Williams was gay. He certainly wasn't around you all those years for the hot sex.

I once attended a political cocktail party in Boston that Joan also attended. Joan was stunning.
