I Made What Most Of You Will Consider A White Trash Pie

And I have to admit it is so damn good. And it's so easy.

You take a can of sweetened condensed milk, a can of frozen lemonade or limeade concentrate (I made lime), and a small tub of Cool Whip, and a prepared graham cracker crust. Thaw out the fruit juice concentrate and the Cool Whip. Combine the fruit juice with the condensed milk, mix well, then add the Cool Whip and whisk until fully combined. Pour it into the pie crust, cover and freeze overnight. It is so creamy and delicious.

It's a pie AND a floor wax!

by Anonymousreply 1June 24, 2023 8:18 PM

It is white trash. And I love it. So lite and refreshing on a hot Summer day.

by Anonymousreply 2June 24, 2023 8:19 PM

Very similar to a recipe for mango mousse that I sometimes like to make in the summer.

by Anonymousreply 3June 24, 2023 8:29 PM

Could you substitute the Cool Whip for real whipped cream?

by Anonymousreply 4June 24, 2023 8:32 PM

I was thinking the same, but I’m not sure about whipped cream and a frozen tube of Lime-Aid together.

by Anonymousreply 5June 24, 2023 8:38 PM

I would stick with the Cool Whip R4. I too think real whipped cream might curdle. And besides, this is something you don't want to overintellectualize. It being so easy is a big part of its alure.

by Anonymousreply 6June 24, 2023 8:42 PM

How good could it be when the main ingredient is a tub of Cool Whip?

by Anonymousreply 7June 24, 2023 8:44 PM

It's DAMN good! That's how good.

by Anonymousreply 8June 24, 2023 8:44 PM

It's now my 2nd favorite white trash summer cold dessert. #1 will always be Watergate Salad.

by Anonymousreply 9June 24, 2023 8:46 PM

As a former fat boy who loves cakes, pies, cookies, pastries.

When I was 19 someone at my part time job make this pie-It looked like yours but it was just white-

It was totally trashy and utterly delicious. I have tried to find a recipe for years- and all I remember is that the woman said it had cream cheese and MARSHMALLOW FLUFF in it!

by Anonymousreply 10June 24, 2023 8:47 PM

Add pink food coloring and a drizzle of Cointreau, and I call it "Martha Mitchell Pie."

by Anonymousreply 11June 24, 2023 8:49 PM

Omg, OP, that looks so yummy. Is it good? I bet they have other yummy variations.

by Anonymousreply 12June 24, 2023 8:50 PM

R10 if the pie you had at work had cream cheese in it it was not the same pie. This pie is just 3 ingredients. Condensed milk, frozen lemonade concentrate, and Cool Whip.

by Anonymousreply 13June 24, 2023 8:51 PM

R12, it's so damn good if you put a slice on top of your head your tongue would beat your brains out trying to get at it. LOL

by Anonymousreply 14June 24, 2023 8:52 PM

OP, just think how much that sugar would eat into your teeth if you had any.

by Anonymousreply 15June 24, 2023 8:52 PM

Cool whip is awful. Cloying and artificial tasting. It's oily aftertaste is hideous. Never cool whip.

by Anonymousreply 16June 24, 2023 8:54 PM

You sure are lowdown swamp people, ain't ya?

by Anonymousreply 17June 24, 2023 8:57 PM

"Cloying"? Well Miss Petty Pretentious, ain't you just the bees knees.

R16 hates Cool Whip, but he has 5 tubs of a knock off brand of whipped topping in his freezer at all times.

by Anonymousreply 18June 24, 2023 9:08 PM

I have some whipping cream - and cocoa - and condensed milk - and even some coconut milk. I think I will try to make a chocolate pie this way.

by Anonymousreply 19June 24, 2023 9:16 PM

Cool Whip is for poor fat people who drive American cars. I wouldn’t be caught dead having it in my shopping cart.

by Anonymousreply 20June 24, 2023 9:27 PM

The only way this could be trashier is if you ejaculated into it as well.

Look at you, bitch-

Must I teach you fuckers, everything?

by Anonymousreply 24June 24, 2023 11:19 PM

Could you make this with real wip cream?

by Anonymousreply 25June 24, 2023 11:23 PM

Trash??? It seems WASPy to me.

by Anonymousreply 26June 24, 2023 11:23 PM

The Neely's recipe I posted in the OP should no be followed. That cow said to put it in the freezer for 2 hours. BULLSHYTE! It needs to freeze overnight (at least 12 hours).

by Anonymousreply 29June 25, 2023 12:06 AM

Right R29. Apparently he was admitted to the hospital after making the video for complications due to eating an insufficiently-frozen pie.

by Anonymousreply 36June 25, 2023 5:18 AM

My husband made this pie a couple of weeks ago, but he substituted frozen pineapple juice concentrate. It was tasty, but incredibly sweet.

by Anonymousreply 37June 25, 2023 5:20 AM

Greg please post your mango mousse recipe. On the other hand, given the season, do you have a zucchini mousse.

by Anonymousreply 38June 25, 2023 5:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 41June 25, 2023 6:31 AM

My favorite dessert is apple pie filling covered with yellow cake mix and butter. Bake it until the topping gets kind of streusely. Remarkably yummy.

by Anonymousreply 42June 25, 2023 6:32 AM

R42, A can of apple pie filling and a box of yellow cake mix, and how much butter? What size pan? A pie plate? An 8x8 pan?

by Anonymousreply 43June 25, 2023 6:41 AM

No R34, that pie is absolutely nothing like the lemonade pie.

by Anonymousreply 44June 25, 2023 10:21 AM

That sounds wonderful R37. I'm going to look for the pineapple juice concentrate for the next time I make it as I love pineapple. Frankly, I've never noticed frozen pineapple juice concentrate in the freezer case. I may also try using frozen orange juice concentrate.

The final texture of this pie is very much like soft serve ice cream, only more firm. And yes, it is quite sweet and that's why I've told people they only want a small slice. Well, unless you're just a hog for sweetness.

by Anonymousreply 45June 25, 2023 10:27 AM

OP, are you implying that for some people this would be considered a rare delicacy?

by Anonymousreply 46June 25, 2023 8:19 PM

r47 Lol. Thank you. These white trash queens need some new ideas for when they run out of dem dere Cool Whip!

by Anonymousreply 48June 25, 2023 10:45 PM

[quote] Greg please post your mango mousse recipe.

Egalandy, I have no recipe for zucchini mousse, I'm afraid.

For mango mousse, in a blender simply combine equal parts mango concentrate (NOT juice) and sweetened condensed milk. Blend until thick. That's it! I have purchased mango concentrate in a local Latin market. You can probably also find it on Amazon.

You can top the mousse with softly whipped cream if you like.

You could also fold softly whipped cream into the mousse if you think that would be more to your liking.

Hope you like it.

by Anonymousreply 50June 26, 2023 6:37 PM

My mother used to make picnic punch.

1 part Hawaiian Punch

1 part Sprite or ginger ale

Garnish with scoops of rainbow sherbet

by Anonymousreply 51June 26, 2023 7:07 PM

Back in the day lime punch was a big favorite for hot summer days, 1/2 gallon of lime sherbet and two 2 liter bottles of Ginger Ale. Once the sherbet melted and formed a nice punch it was heaven.

by Anonymousreply 52June 26, 2023 8:15 PM

R50 Greg I would love a thread with your recipes, food hacks, etc. The last ten years I have really been trying to make new recipes. My husband loved your Macaroni salad and said try to get some of his other recipes. Just a suggestion about the thread.

If others do not want to read the thread they can just ignore it.

by Anonymousreply 53June 26, 2023 8:57 PM

Yes, R53, but they won’t simply ignore it—they will act like a bunch of idiots.

But I appreciate your very nice request. Is there anything in particular you’d like to make?

Do you ever make pesto? This is a great time of year for it.

by Anonymousreply 63June 26, 2023 11:45 PM

The recipe calls for a six-ounce can of frozen juice concentrate-- is that what you whores used or did you use the standard size can? Or IS a standard-size can 6oz?

by Anonymousreply 64June 27, 2023 12:37 AM

6 oz. is the standard size can.

by Anonymousreply 65June 27, 2023 1:52 AM

R43 I don’t remember the measurements but when I get back from my trip, I’ll make it and let you know.

by Anonymousreply 66June 27, 2023 2:53 AM

Thank you, NPO. Enjoy your trip; I hope you got out of Texas because we're melting down here!

by Anonymousreply 67June 27, 2023 3:14 AM

R64 I think the concentrated cans usually are 12oz. I recall making them enough that they instruct 3 canfuls of water to get 48oz total.

by Anonymousreply 68June 27, 2023 3:23 AM

R54 I have never made pesto. Anything would be perfect.

Just ignore them. They are just jealous. Never let them see you sweat.

by Anonymousreply 69June 27, 2023 4:20 AM

Pesto is easy, delicious, and seasonal. I think it is best made in a mortar and pestle, but you could also use a food processor.

[bold] GREG’S POSITIVELY DELICIOUS BASIL PESTO RECIPE [/bold]

[bold] INGREDIENTS [/bold]

- 2 Tablespoons of pine nuts

- 1 teaspoon kosher salt

- 2 garlic cloves, peeled

- 2 cup packed basil leaves

- 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil

- 1/4 cup finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano

- 1/4 cup finely grated Pecorino Romano

+++

[bold] PROCEDURE [/bold]

1. Use a large mortar and pestle if possible, and pound the pine nuts, salt, and garlic into a very smooth paste. This will take 5–7 minutes.

2. Add the basil 1/2 cup at a time, working it into the mixture after each addition, until the mixture is smooth and creamy. This will take a solid 15–20 minutes.

3. While stirring with the pestle, gradually add the oil until fully emulsified. This will take about 3 minutes more.

4. Stir in the Parmigiano and Pecorino Romano.

This is delicious, but requires a full 30 minutes of pounding and grinding in the mortar and pestle.

It’s totally worth it. Good luck!

by Anonymousreply 70June 27, 2023 12:49 PM

PS - you can also add 1 or 2 Tablespoons of starchy pasta water (cooled down, not boiling hot!) to your pesto to make it a bit creamier.

by Anonymousreply 83June 28, 2023 9:15 PM

R43

I made the apple pie/cake thingie (I think my mom always called it apple bake?) today and here are the general measurements:

Two 20 oz cans of apple pie filling One box of yellow cake mix One stick of salted butter

Put the pie filling in an 8x8 pan, sprinkle as much of the cake mix on top as you wish (I use a lot) then place bits of butter all over the top of that. Bake at 350 until the butter is nice and melty and the filling is hot. The cake mix will still look powdery, but the butter will spread around enough.

It’s really one of those throw-together desserts that can be adjusted to taste, e.g. I like salty-sweet, so I used salted butter today. YMMV.

It’s hard to mess this up and it’s just so buttery and yummy.
