Hate too many exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!

She and CNR were my favorite parts of the show.
Is this part of the reason I was in my formative gayling years...??
| by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 5, 2018 2:38 PM |
She had her moments of being funny... but also quite tedious, particularly as the show went on.

Classic moment: Fannie doing an impersonation of Charles. Dawson does Brett. Then Joann Pflug does a spot-on imitation of Dick Gautier.
It starts after 2:00.

I watch the repeats on GSN every day.

Brett was the best. I wish I could have seen her one woman cabaret show she did in NYC a few years before she passed.

I can't wait to watch Match Game on GSN today! Hot damn!
| by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 6, 2018 12:11 PM |
I watch it too. But then my other fav show is My 600# Life, so there’s that. Did they ever allude to CNR being, um, gay?

I saw her show in NYC, R10. It was wonderful. I went as the guest of her next door neighbor so we had a quick drink w her afterward. I got to meet Jack Klugman & Marcia Wallace both of whom were also there. They were all very warm and welcoming. Clearly had a lot of affection for each other. Brett seemed tickled that I remembered her as Aunt Rose on MTM. It was a great night.

I ghostwrote her autobiography, Dumb Dora Dearest: My Life with a Sharpie.

I loved Match Game! Brett was always the worst player but she was still gold. I always wondered what these people did for a living because they weren't really in movies or sitcoms. A lot of them were comedians and Broadway performers.

I love Fannie Flagg. She wrote Fried Green Tomatoes.

A lot of the guest stars were usually promoting their gigs in clubs or regional stock productions. Venues that were the last fumes of Vaudeville and now mostly long gone.

Loved Match Game and its cast of characters! Richard Dawson was always relied upon as the clever one in a crunch.

I'm obsessed how nasty gross the host was. he looked like a total ....u know....the lowest of the low. that laschevious grin and long fug tongue.

r18, yes, that book about two best friends with a lot to say about small town life in the USA.
| by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 7, 2018 12:20 AM |
I have to disagree with some of the posters. Gene Rayburn was a perfect host for the show, just as Richard Dawson was perfect for Family Feud. The two of them are my all-time favorite game show hosts.

R14 Thanks for your note! How fortunate to be in such great company! I am totally jealous that you saw it, let alone you met her with Marcia and Jack! Sorry for all of the exclamation points, but so cool!

I used to enjoy Match Game reruns but I guess I burned out. Brett really annoyed me by the time I quit watching. She just seemed way too precious and pleased with herself considering she was only famous for being on a game show.

There was some interview — it may have been with Gene Rayburn — where the interviewee said that Rayburn's cue for CNR to turn down the flames was to call him "Chuck." I wish I could remember where I read or heard that.

I find it so strange that shortly after joining the show, she and Jack Klugman separated. They never divorced and he went on to have a live-in girlfriend for twenty years that he only married after Brett died. It’s just weird.

Was Charles Nelson Reilly nearly blind, or were those just decoration glasses? Damn, they’re like coke bottles. Is the guy from trailer park boys related to him?

I can't stop thinking about Brett Somers. I guess I'm obsessed. Can't wait til I can watch Match Game during my lunch hour today on GSN.

Do you think Brett would have liked DataLounge?

Gearing up for a fun daily dose of Matchgame on GSN.

I love how every answer was some kind of sexual innuendo, and they were all drunk and smoking.

People hating on Gene Rayburn? I don't want to live this in this world anymore.
