Happy Heavenly Birthday, Joan Crawford!

Joan Crawford was born on this day circa 1906, or 1904 to 1908, depending on who you believe. Here's a direct link to 19 blog posts I've written about JC's life and career. Cheers!

Oh Norma, darling,

I'm actually over here.

You just extended those birthday wishes to Lassie ass, dear.

(Poor Norma, she won't admit that wonky eye is always spinning around like a pinwheel.)

Barbara, please!

Allow a sister a moment to swoon - my favorite actress! Horrible, horrible woman... but great acting, and such a striking beauty. I'm grateful for the work she left behind.

Happy birthday, Ms. Crawford.

She was complicated, not horrible.

Here's Joan in one of her best roles, with one of her best leading men! My take on this grown up melodrama...

"Humoresque" is probably the film of Joan's that critics find the most accomplished. Maybe it's because it succeeds while being such a strange hybrid of a Clifford Odets/Group Theater plus Joan Crawford melodrama mixed together. It is a very entertaining movie nonetheless.

Heavenly birthday? You think they'd open the pearly gates for that bitch?

I'd rather be "blessed" by Joan Crawford than any Pope.

Will you guys call me Mary! if I admit that I always end my personal notes with "All good wishes to you always"? I stole it from Joan.

Over the top, crazed and so much fun.

I can't ever think of her without seeing a rat dressed in mayonnaise and tomato slices.

We watched Queen Bee on Christmas day. Joan in brilliant as a malignant narcissist. Later, we watched Cecil B Demented. What a fun day!

Harriet Craig and Female on the Beach are also excellent.

Joan gave a more subdued but still strong performance in "Autumn Leaves".

Here's my take on "Autumn Leaves," which I thought was one of her best latter day sympathetic roles... of which there were few!

Crawford did have a hardness about her appearance and a fierce, cold expression in her eyes.

Oh yes, R21!

This is Mamacita's favorite version of this movie.

I sometimes let her watch it while she's scrubbing my floors.

Handsie/kneesie, Mamacita, it's the only way to get them truly CLEAN!

I thought Mamacita was Polish American. Polish is a tough language to learn
