Back in the early 80s I was shopping at Ansley Mall (Atlanta) one day. I decided to pop into the Morrison's Cafeteria for a bite of lunch. As I was sitting there Doc Severinsen and his band came through the door. They went through the line and must have bought 3 plates of food per guy. The manager pulled some tables together off in a corner for them and they all sat there eating like it was the last meal they'd ever have. They all seemed to genuinely nice, happy guys.

They all drank on the job back then. Carson would keep a lit cigarette under his desk and puff on it during breaks. He was a notorious chainsmoker.
He was also a very mean guy.
