Random, I know. But I can't help thinking this an excellent example of a house I could see myself growing up in, rather than one I aspire to own as an adult.
That said, it's also an excellent example of how many can't buy you (much) taste- it's very ordinary and I think that's why it's so striking to me.

Houses in Lima often have walls around them, with jagged metal or broken glass embedded in the cement at the top.
Make of that what you will.

I don't care for that kitchen and only ONE bathroom? Otherwise, meh.
Granted, if I'm living in San Isidro the kitchen is not my problem, but ONE bathroom?
No.

On the second level there is a distribution hall with closets, 4 bedrooms, two of them with built-in bathrooms and walk in closets and the other two share a bathroom; the master bedroom has a large walk in closet, bathroom with jacuzzi and air conditioning. The second and third bedrooms also have air conditioning.
TO: It's described as having 4.5 bathrooms. And a security feature for R1, too.

[quote]It has 3 covered parking spaces and electric fence.
Only 10 years old, it could pass as a 1960s house with a 1980s interior makeover. I don't there there is a photo of the street facade, but the architecture has a dated if not wholly bad look. With nicer flooring and quality furniture and some small fixes it could be a pleasant and comfortable house. Not for me, though, I'd want an old house, or something less timidly modern.

TO = R2 in autocorrect world.

Thanks for the input, R3.
I think there is also a problem with the dimensions of the backyard and one or two of the rooms.

R3 - apparently, I cannot read a full ad. Le sigh.
Nonetheless, that kitchen...

$1.5 Million for a middle class home in Lima Peru? I thought housing was supposed to be cheap there.

I think a nice place, in a nice area in somewhere like Lima often means better value for money than dirt cheap, R8. There are plenty of listings in NYC or LA that would be priced similarly.

R1, that's certainly what I noticed first. Spoiled everything else.

^I thought they were just regular railings at first.

Lima is covered in thick grey fog for a big part of the year. Combined with crazy traffic and all the crime, it must be a dreadful place to live.

Nice house. From the comments here, I love how we assume homes in foreign parts will conform to American standards.
Reading these comments, it's just like watching "House Hunters International."
Where's the Peruvian Adrian Leeds, Sarah Eggar, Richard Blanco, or Kevin Brugger?
Apropos of Sarah Eggar, her husband's hot:

What's that, R13? I don't see any critique of the house in terms of its conformity to American standards. Outside of the sideline discussion of security walls/fences, where are the comments that wouldn't have been made were this house in the U.S.?

The weather, overall, is moderate and stable; it has it's fans.
There's no getting away from the traffic problem, but Lima is considered the foodie capital of South America and can be excellent value for money.

R15, I've lived in four countries. I like what I like. Where did I say anything comparing to U.S. standards?
Zero in on your preconceived notions about the basis of my complaint.
