His hair has some "help" from the good doctor who did Elon Musk, or the same treatment procedure as the Elon hair. Their forehead hairline is the same now. It happened to RDJ sometime between 2008 and now (yes, 10 years is a long time to pinpoint). When promoting IM1 he buzzed his hair, didn't have problems then. For the past few years (since Avengers 2012 at least) he has worn the same style.
Luckily his producer wife (and his handling team) is there to spot any treatments needed (hair/face/body) before he's photographed for his adoring public.
I'm not an insider. I stare at hairlines a lot. On the Civil War 2016 poster, it's obvious his hair had some thickening help. No shame in any of this, he's lucky it didn't happen when he was in prison. No covering help there.

Has he been looking haggy or "refreshed" while promoting IW now? I'm not much for diving into tumblr or IG etc.
I can tell you it takes a lot of makeup and lighting and rewinding a few years for RDJ to look like op's pic.

Looks like RDJ and his wifey Susan are remaining satisfiably married. Sherlock Holmes 3 announced for 25 December 2020. Over 2.5 years from now. From the article:

Narcos co-creator Chris Brancato is credited as screenwriter with Joel Silver, Susan Downey and Lionel Wigram returning as producers. Village Roadshow is also returning as co-producer.

Downey is filming some Disney Dr Doolittle movie after finishing off Iron Man for Marvel. I doubt there is time for another lame Sherlock movie that nobody wants to see anyway.
He creeps me out, there is something about him and kids that is not right.
