Who else remembers this amazing campfest that ran from 1981-1986 and again from 2010-2011? I absolutely loved both this show and Mystery Science Theater 3000. Next year is the 40th anniversary of Elvira as well as Cassandra Peterson's 70th birthday even though she doesn't look a day over 50.
Still waiting for the overdue direct sequel to Elvira, Mistress of The Dark. Cassandra has stated that it might be animated instead of live action.

Why are these so hard to find on DVD?

Well, she is VERY active on social media...and there was "Elvira's Haunted Hills"...thought it's not as good as the first one. Many of the films she hosted are available for free on Prime and Tubi.

It's the same issue with Mystery Science Theater 3000. The licensing fees/rights to more than half of the movies parodied are too expensive to purchase or in some cases the director was insulted by the parody and refused thus making complete series box set releases impossible.

Animation is probably the better option. Twirling them is one thing but now she probably could throw them over her shoulder.

I forgot all about this. Cassandra was also a DJ on KROQ 106.7FM based in Pasadena CA in the early 80s. That was when the station was very "new wave" and was THE radio station if you were in high school at that time. It had an almost cult-like following.

Did Elvira ever narrate over entire features cracking jokes the whole way through like MST3K?

I think she made snarky comments at commercial break time.

She recreated that scene 3 years ago at Knott's Berry Farm in the same outfit without issue as part of her performance.

I met her a few years ago and she was incredibly gorgeous in person. She's aged maybe 16 days in the past 20 years. I'm not sure if she's had good work done or what, but she looks unbelievable.

She's naturally a ginger and suffered a horrific childhood accident of scalding.
