Brokeback Mountain play adaptation will star Mike Faist and Lucas Hedges

It sounds potentially wonderful to me.

It's a bi film not a gay film. Don't give a shit about how many of you paint it as "gay" film when it's objectively not. And this play will be just as fucking bi, shit, and homophobic as the movie was, obviously. Gods Own Country was real top quality GAY content about actual gay men and homosexuality. Not this fucking Brokeback Bi Mountain bullshit.

When is Lucas finally coming out?

by Anonymousreply 4March 20, 2023 1:00 PM

You sure have a lot of boundaries DARKMINILORD.

by Anonymousreply 5March 20, 2023 1:01 PM

I thought it was Lucas Till at first. When he is coming out as well?

by Anonymousreply 6March 20, 2023 1:02 PM

Am I the only one that always sees DARK GEMINI LORD as DARK MINGE LORD?

In a 2018 interview with Vulture, Lucas said he identifies as neither gay nor straight — just somewhere in between.

Whatever that means.

by Anonymousreply 12March 20, 2023 1:17 PM

So sick of movies being adapted into plays.

by Anonymousreply 15March 20, 2023 2:20 PM

Will White Michelle Williams be recreating her part in hopes of winning a Foreign Broadway trophy?

by Anonymousreply 16March 20, 2023 3:31 PM

Neither of them is attractive enough to play their roles. They also both serve “bottom.” Who is playing the Anne Hathaway role? A sewer rat in a cowgirl outfit?

by Anonymousreply 17March 20, 2023 4:03 PM

Guys who say they are bisexual are gay. With women, maybe it's different.

by Anonymousreply 18March 20, 2023 4:09 PM

...and nonbinary is bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 19March 20, 2023 4:09 PM

Does R15 hate when movies are made out of books? Because….

by Anonymousreply 20March 20, 2023 4:21 PM

[quote] Neither of them is attractive enough to play their roles.

The production makes it clear that the play is based principally on the short story and not the movie. The short story characters are not described as striking or handsome, but rather average looking.

[quote] This show, which will mark the West End debuts for both of its leading men, is based on Proulx’s short story, originally published in The New Yorker, not Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning 2005 film starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal.

I would’ve thought they had better things to do.

by Anonymousreply 22March 21, 2023 2:09 PM

Are Crispin Glover and Lucas related?

by Anonymousreply 24March 21, 2023 2:26 PM

R20 No I don’t mind books being made into movies I just don’t see why every play these days has to be based on a movie Pretty Woman, Ghost, Sister Act, Back to the Future. All this tacky nostalgia act. It’s embarrassing that this is what they think the millennials want. Like we aren’t more sophisticated.

by Anonymousreply 25March 21, 2023 3:11 PM

Love Feist, but Lucas less so.

by Anonymousreply 26March 21, 2023 3:23 PM

Once again they cast heteros to play gay. Shameful.

by Anonymousreply 27March 21, 2023 3:26 PM

R25 I agree. About half the musicals on Broadway are nostalgic nonsense of popular movies for the Baby Boomer and Gen X crowd.

by Anonymousreply 28March 21, 2023 3:28 PM

There’s a meme going around progressive gays condemning this casting for being white, straight, cisgender. First off, who the fuck cares. Insisting only gay people can play gay people is childish. But also, Lukas is not straight. And why the fuck is it now racist unless a BIPOC person is in the lead? Are two white people never allowed to hold lead roles anymore? Enough of this insanity.

by Anonymousreply 29March 21, 2023 6:54 PM

I think you made that up.

by Anonymousreply 30March 21, 2023 7:08 PM

Ah ain' gonna shit you,

I jus' cain't quit you...

by Anonymousreply 31March 21, 2023 7:12 PM

R29, where is the meme, dear? Post it.

by Anonymousreply 32March 21, 2023 7:27 PM

No, my first name ain't baby.

by Anonymousreply 33March 21, 2023 7:33 PM

I would have preferred that one of these roles be played by Brandon Flynn.

by Anonymousreply 34March 21, 2023 10:41 PM

I wonder if our boy Froy auditioned for this, he makes such an adorable cow poke.

Yes, R23. I’m sure they’ll stage it so that the opening of the tent faces the audience so they can see Lucas’ winsome, gaping hole.

In fact, since it’s in London, maybe it’ll be immersive so the audience can stand right outside the tent while they fuck until the lights come up on the other side of the house and they can gather around and watch Alma wash a sink load of dishes in real time.

by Anonymousreply 36March 21, 2023 10:48 PM

Mike Faist was quite femme in WSS.
