I'm watching 'Dallas' S7, and Cliff is offering Pam a job at Barnes-Wentworth. He says, "What else do you have to do besides sit home and watch Christopher grow up? I know you, and you need to work."
In S6 (less than a year before), Bobby had bought Pam an aerobics studio to run; now there's no mention of the studio and/or if she sold it after their divorce, *or* if it (n)ever existed. What are other examples of TV shows rewriting history? 'Dynasty' and the other 80s primetime soaps were also prime suspects for this sort of revised history. But sitcoms are just as guilty. Did they think audiences were so stupid they'd forget a whole story arc from the previous season(s), especially before binging became commonplace?

Maybe they thought their audiences had more important things to worry about, OP, such as real life.

In Golden Girls, nobody calls Bea Arthur by her real name, Maude.

Another Dallas inconsistent storyline was the paternity of Jenna Wade's daughter Charlie. By way of background, Jenna showed up three times on Dallas. In the first full season, she was played by Morgan Fairchild (the best Jenna in my opinion). She tried to work Bobby by hinting Charlie may have been his, but she ultimately admits Charlie is not Bobby's, but rather her ex-husband Naldo Marchetta's daughter. (Jenna had dumped Bobby to run off with Naldo, who was supposed to be an Italian count.)
The second time Jenna shows up she's played by Francine Tacker. She mentions that Charlie is with her father, Naldo Marchetta, and what a wonderful father he is.
The third time Jenna shows up she's played by Pricilla Presley and becomes a regular on the show. Presley is the worst Jenna and a terrible actress. But the show revisited the Charlie paternity storyline yet again and seemed to wipe out the other two appearances where Charlie was clearly NOT Bobby's daughter. They ran it out for several episodes, and even had Bobby's name appear as the father on Charlie's birth certificate, before revealing once again that Naldo is Charlie's father. Jenna had put Bobby's name down because she wanted a legal advantage if Naldo ever tried to take Charlie. Oh, and Naldo went from being a wonderful father in Jenna's second appearance to a deadbeat dad and kidnapping criminal with ties to the mafia in the third go round.
I remember being surprised they went down that same road again. Any fan knew that issue had been resolved years before.

"Hill Street Blues" did a few shows that featured a corrupt cop called Sal Benedetto, who eventually commits suicide. He made such an impression that he was brought back on the show as a regular, this time named Norman Buntz, another cop, this one a flawed but decent one. I understood that Dennis Franz was a great actor but to have him play one character and then come back as another character seemed ridiculous, especially since HSB seemed to be heavy on realism.

R3, the ep of 'Dallas' I'm watching now is Priscilla's first one (S7 E7). I've not seen this season in probably 15 years. I'm surprised how well she's doing in this first ep, considering she literally had no acting experience. I wonder how the hell she even got hired on 'Dallas'? She definitely began to phone it in later, as I remember the last time I watched her eps on SoapNet, I thought she was terrible. You are correct that Morgan Fairchild was by far the best Jenna.

Most so-called “critically acclaimed“ shows are just godless communist propaganda anyway. All the Emmys in the world won’t keep you out of Hell.

I know of Dalls but.... was Cliff a queen in all but name throughout the series?
