Bette (sitcom)

Watching this on YT and it's held up well. Striking how much it relies on the joke being on Midler.

I'm not OP. Lindsay Lohan is her daughter. Bette's shtick does hold up but a little goes a long way.

Oops, Lindsay is replaced by episode 3.

True story. I was waiting on Miss Midler and asked if they were going to have fun with Joanna Gleason's dad. Midler asked, "Why? Who's her father"? When I told her, she was amazed. She honestly didn't know. "Is he really her father?"

I didn't know Monty Hall was Joanna's father until you mentioned it right here.

Omg the late, great Wendie Jo Sperber did a guest spot!

It was OK but definitely was a bit of a mess. They replaced the daughter and the husband and.....yeah, it was kinda half baked.

I don't think it was the right medium for her.

Damn, did they have big bowls of cocaine in the green room?

I think it shows Bette's wonderful talent for physical comedy. And they obviously modeled it a bit on Lucy's shows.

It doesn’t work because she’s playing herself.

That only really takes about once in a lifetime.

Carl Weathers was brilliant on "Arrested Development."

I loved "Bette" too bad it never got the ratings it needed to sustain.

Twice, at least.

I liked it and was sorry it was cancelled. It wasn’t great but had enough fun moments.

Watching the first two episodes, I think it would have worked much better as a single camera sitcom.

As it is, Bette's overly broad performance and the intrusive audience response get in the way of strong scripts and a great cast.

Making The Wind Beneath My Wings a punchline was delightful.

I enjoyed it when it originally aired. Some clever scripts.

We never got Candice farting.
