That tattoo is so incredibly tasteless. I can only hope he was hammered when he had it put on.

How exactly did the tattoo craze come into being? Seriously. Obviously, I've heard the youngins talking about how great their tattoos are, and I've seen the result of their tattoo addiction - some of them just can't seem to stop. But, when I hear even older female senior citizens going on and on about the tattoo they just got, then I really start to wonder about this phenomenon. Me? None, and won't ever.

Wow, R3. So unique. Tell us more, please.

^If you're not being snarky (sometimes I can't tell on DL), then there's nothing really to tell. Besides, I don't know you're referring to when using the world "unique." I know of a senior citizen who was about 68 years old at the time of her first tattoo, and I was just perplexed by it is all.

I think these back tattoos mean something extra special to those who get it. I know the TV critic Mo Ryan said she got a full-back dragon tattoo last year to mark the beginning of a new era in her life and honour the ordeals she went through in that one hellish year she had. Frau talk, I know, but perhaps Ben had something similar in mind. Must be a nice feeling, for something to literally have your back at all times.

I cannot for the life of me understand the tattoo craze for this reason alone: These people with the multiple tattoos would go ape shit if someone sprayed graffiti all over their homes and cars, yet that's precisely what they're doing to their own bodies - putting graffiti all over themselves. Mind boggling.

R8, perhaps you should lie down until you feel better. I’m concerned about you.

What good is having a tattoo on your back where you can't see it?
I have to be practical about these things.

It does nothing to hide his love handles.

Well then he would have had to be hammered on many occasions. That tat was not put on in one session. It took many sessions to get that much ink.

Well then, you have to give credit to the tattoo artist for being able to adapt to the constantly changing size, shape, and firmness of the canvas on which he was working.

How to have that much-sought after "I Spent My Life in Prison" look without the inconvenience of prison.

Allergy to pigments, possibly
It can change the skin texture, as well.
One identifying marker, or "secret" that is fine. Any more than that suggests mental problems.
Only very rarely are they ever artistic or tasteful, or enhancing of appearance.
