Awful, old time male names

My father's name was Elmer. He always said it was a sissy name.

by Anonymousreply 14June 1, 2019 7:14 PM

There really are a ton of them. This thread would be a great resource for any celebrities expecting a baby boy.

There are some names still common/popular in the UK that sound old-fashioned to me. For example, Rupert. I've never met an American by that name.

by Anonymousreply 17June 1, 2019 7:16 PM

R15 I was just thinking this morning that I'm getting old (I'm 39) and you posted my name. LOL

by Anonymousreply 20June 1, 2019 7:17 PM

Oh, there's that Rupert who keeps showing up on "Amazing Race" and "Survivor", but no, i haven't met him either.

I know a Humberto but I don't think it's naff in Brazil.

by Anonymousreply 38June 1, 2019 7:29 PM

by Anonymousreply 40June 1, 2019 7:32 PM

by Anonymousreply 80June 2, 2019 12:25 AM

To be fair, my name has always been geeky in pop culture, so I wasn't surprised it made its way here. I used to hate it, but now I embrace it.
