52 Pick-Up (1986) movie. Anyone seen it? Eldergays?

Just saw it for the first time last night on MGM. The film is based on a book. It was a very nice contrast to the typical 80s cheese by instead showing us 80s sleaze. The movie is filled with seedy characters and by the end I really found myself not feeling sorry for any of them. There's a lot of violence.

It stars Roy Scheider, Ann-Margret, Vanity, John Glover, Robert Trebor, Clarence Williams III and Kelly Preston. It's an interesting mix of people one wouldn't necessarily have put together. To me the standout performances were by Glover and Williams as they really got into their villainous roles but I enjoyed everyone.

For whatever reason it didn't do well at the Box Office though I think it may have only been on limited release in select theaters.

No, I've never seen it shown on TV. I enjoyed the book, though. Elmore Leonard. Is this the one where he asks: Why didn't someone warn me about Albanians?

I don't remember seeing it, but I do remember it got lukewarm reviews.

R2 what did you think of it?

Sounds interesting. I'll check it out.

Roy Scheider is an odd case — he starred in some major movies for about 10 years and is largely ignored today.

John Glover does a Baltimore accent in this. He ends up sounding a bit like Philly Boy Roy.

R5 tbh as a millenail I hadn't heard of him until this movie

R6 had no idea but I did think he sounded strange at times when he spoke. Interesting accent
